Dirck Maas (1659 - 1717)

LEVADE BETWEEN THE PILLARS (Levade means to raise up in dressage). ca. 1680s. Hollstein 6ii. Etching, 205 x 234 mm (8 1/16 x 9 3/16") plus full margins. Very good impression in good condition. Plate 6 of The Riding School, a set of nine etchings. Watermark: Arms of Amsterdam (Churchill 52, ca. 1736).
