Jean-Francois Millet (1814 - 1875)

LES GLANEUSES (The Gleaners). 1855-56. Delteil 12 i (of ii) - “Tres rare”. Etching printed in dark brownish-black ink on mounted China paper. Very fine, early impression in very good condition.

Provenance: Harris G. Whittemore (no mark; see Lugt 1384a); Harlow, McDonald & Co., New York, and Kennedy Galleries, New York. The latter two were amongst the best New York dealers in their day.
