THE HINNY-DROVER,
VIA APPIA. ca. 1640s. Hollstein 6, unrecorded state between
iv and v (of vi), with the artist’s name and the address
of Mariette, but before the number. Etching with drypoint,
202 x 276 mm (8 x 10 7/8”), trimmed along platemark,
but outside borderline. A very good impression, printed with
plate tone on paper with a shield watermark. Horizontal fold
visible on verso, tiny repaired tear. From the set of six
Landscapes of the Environs of Rome.
